Throughout the United States, ICE has unlawfully forcibly removed individuals from their homes, workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods, threatening communities and people nationwide. This is a direct attack on our fundamental rights.
The Trump administration secured approval for $45 billion over four years to expand immigrant detention. This funding enables ICE to double its detention capacity, allowing the detention of over 100,000 individuals per day—equivalent to approximately 36.5 million Americans annually, and 140 million over four years. This means about 1 in every 9 or 10 people in the U.S. will be detained and imprisoned without due process or justice. Our right to free speech includes criticizing governments, policies, public officials, or even advocating for Palestine, Israel, or any cause. This is not just an opinion; it is a core principle enshrined in the Constitution. If we allow this to continue, the current administration can target one of us for expressing views it disagrees with; it can—and will—target any of us. We must stand united and draw a firm line, according to the ACLU. Take action today by calling on Congress to defend our First Amendment rights and vote NO on any bill that punishes noncitizens for exercising their free speech. ACLU recommends: If you are not a citizen, please do not include your real name in the "First Name" and "Last Name" fields for your security. |
1. Contact Congress NowContact Your Member of Congress: Urge them to vote NO on any legislation that punishes noncitizens for exercising their First Amendment rights. Everyone—citizens and noncitizens alike—deserves the right to free speech. The current administration is undermining these fundamental rights for immigrants and all Americans. Make your voice heard! Do this regularly and share with friends, family, social media, etc. Hold Congress accountable!
