This Thanksgiving, Resist Black Friday Deals and Stand Up for Human Rights, Dignity, and Justice

11/25/2025

As families across the country prepare to celebrate and give thanks, a different kind of movement is gaining momentum—one that challenges us to reflect on the corporate support fueling systemic abuses in our immigration system. While holiday shopping and Black Friday deals dominate headlines, many of the biggest companies backing these sales are also contributing to a system that inflicts trauma, suffering, and human rights violations on vulnerable populations.

The Hidden Crisis of Immigration Detention
The Trump administration has transformed the immigration enforcement landscape, replacing justice and compassion with fear, trauma, and inhumane treatment. Currently, approximately 50,000 people are detained by ICE at any given time, with over 3 million individuals booked into detention centers over the past decade. Americans are Under Attack! The government is seeking an extra $45 billion to expand these detention efforts further, aiming to deport one million people annually. This relentless push has created a detention system marked by overcrowding, neglect, and abuse.
Detainees are kept in deplorable conditions—filthy, overcrowded facilities with insufficient access to basic necessities. They face severe shortages of food and clean water, and many are kept in cold, uncomfortable cells known as “hieleras,” which are so frigid they cause illness and suffering. Medical neglect is widespread; individuals suffer from untreated illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, and diabetes, with delays or outright denial of essential healthcare. Vulnerable groups, including pregnant women, children, and people with disabilities, are often mistreated—denied prenatal care, proper nutrition, or necessary accommodations like sign language interpreters and wheelchairs. Reports confirm that many detainees experience injuries, deteriorating health, and even death—2025 alone has seen at least 25 official reports of deaths in custody, with the actual toll likely higher. The year is shaping up as the deadliest in over two decades for those held in ICE detention.

Numerous investigations and reports have documented systemic failures—detainees regularly face hunger, dehydration, unsafe living conditions, and abusive treatment from staff. Hunger strikes and protests have become common, as detainees demand humane treatment; unfortunately, these acts often lead to retaliation, including transfers and threats. The conditions are so egregious that experts warn this system is causing long-lasting trauma, especially for children and families—trauma that can permanently alter mental health and brain development.

Corporate Support Fosters and Funds This System
Incredibly, some of the world’s biggest corporations have contributed financially to the Trump administration’s policies through donations to the inaugural fund and the White House’s ballroom project. Tech giants like Google, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Facebook’s parent company Meta, Nvidia, and OpenAI have all donated, with some pledging millions. Many of these companies also benefit from government contracts—OpenAI, for instance, has received defense work, and Palantir has secured federal surveillance contracts—further entrenching their ties to the system.

Other industries, including energy, oil, and defense, such as Chevron, ExxonMobil, Lockheed Martin, and Occidental Petroleum, have contributed significant funds. Major retailers like Target, Walmart, and Home Depot are also complicit, either through direct donations or by enabling policies that support the detention and deportation machine. These corporations profit from the status quo, even as it results in suffering and injustice.
What You Can Do: Be a Voice for Justice
This holiday season, we can choose to stand against these injustices. Here’s how you can help:
  • Black Out Major Retailers: During this week’s shopping period, avoid buying from Target, Amazon, and Home Depot. Instead, use this time to connect with loved ones, reflect on what truly matters, and support local businesses that uphold human rights.
  • Redirect Your Spending: Shift your consumer power toward small, community-based, or ethical businesses that respect human dignity and refuse to support policies of detention and deportation.
  • Make a Personal Commitment: Pledge to be a conscious consumer—question where your money goes and whom it supports, and choose companies aligned with justice and fairness.
  • Spread Awareness: Share this message with friends and family, on social media, and within your community. Raising awareness is crucial in building a movement for change.

Join the Fight for Humanity
By choosing not to support corporations that enable systemic abuse, we send a clear message: human rights, dignity, and justice are non-negotiable. This Thanksgiving, let’s prioritize compassion over profit. Let’s stand together for the rights of every person—regardless of immigration status—and demand a future rooted in fairness, respect, and humanity.

New Report Highlights Lessons from the Epstein Case on Power, Survivors, and the Fight for Justice

11/12/2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Report Highlights Lessons from the Epstein Case on Power, Survivors, and the Fight for Justice
San Diego — November 12, 2025 — A new in-depth report titled "What the Epstein Case Teaches Us About Power, Survivors, and Accountability" examines the ongoing implications of Jeffrey Epstein’s scandal, revealing critical insights into systemic failures, the importance of transparency, and the urgent need for justice for survivors of sexual abuse.

Despite Epstein’s death in 2019, the fight for truth and accountability continues in 2025. The report underscores how privilege, secrecy, and influence have historically protected powerful offenders while silencing victims. It details the unresolved questions surrounding Epstein’s covert dealings, the delayed release of files, and the broader societal failure to hold perpetrators accountable.

“This case is a stark reminder of how systemic power can distort justice and how institutional betrayal compounds trauma for survivors,” said The CIRCLE, the report’s author. “It also highlights the critical need for transparency and legislative action to prevent future abuses of power.”

The report explores key issues including the 2008 non-prosecution agreement, the ongoing fight to unseal Epstein’s files, and the consequences of delayed justice. It emphasizes that the Epstein case is not isolated but a “stress test” for how society responds to sexual violence involving the powerful.

What You Can Do:

The report concludes with actionable steps, urging the public to support legislative efforts like the Epstein Files Transparency Act and to back survivor-centered organizations advocating for justice and healing.

Honoring Veterans on November 11, 2025: A Call to Protect Our Future

11/11/2025

Picture
Today, November 11th, is Veterans Day, a federal holiday in the United States (U.S.) dedicated to honoring and recognizing the service of military veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces. Established to commemorate the armistice that ended World War I on November 11, 1918, Veterans Day pays tribute to all men and women who have served in the U.S. military. It is a day marked by ceremonies, parades, and reflections to express gratitude for the sacrifices made by veterans to protect the nation's freedoms and values.

Currently, the United States faces a challenging and uncertain future. The country’s condition has changed dramatically from what it was before 2025. Historically, American citizens, visitors, and the general public benefited from government protections guaranteed by federal agencies—covering fundamental human rights, dignity, mental health, healthcare, medication, disease prevention, research, financial stability, food and water safety, air quality, and more. These protections made the U.S. a model nation, built over centuries with the dedicated efforts of those who served and worked to uphold these values.
Picture
However, in 2025, with a new administration, many of these protections and federal agencies have been dismantled or are no longer active. It remains uncertain whether they will be restored. Despite having a proud history of 250 years, we now face the urgent need to take action to preserve and rebuild what was lost—restoring our country’s protections, freedoms, and core values.
Today, as we honor our military veterans, let us also remember what they have protected. And let us commit to Take Action by contacting our congressional representatives to advocate for the return of these essential protections and ensure that the U.S. military is never used against its own people on American soil.
