Stand Up for Democracy: Call Congress and Join Peaceful Protests Against Trump's Presidential Overreach

6/10/2025

America At Risk - In 2020 President Trump claimed National Guard require state request, but in 2025 President Trump sends troops to Los Angeles, faces lawsuit, and puts communities at risk

President Trump’s effort to justify deploying the National Guard and Marines to Los Angeles is illegal. Whereas only a state governor has the authority to request the National Guard, not the president. Interestingly, during a 2020 presidential campaign interview, Trump made a statement in the video below, saying, “Look we have laws we have to go by the laws we can’t move in the National Guard. I can call insurrection but there’s no reason to ever do that even in a Portland case we can’t call in the National Guard unless we’re requested by a governor”. Meanwhile, President Trump calls in the National Guard and U.S. Marines to Los Angeles, which Governor Newson filed lawsuit against his actions. The actions by the President were found to be not only unnecessary, but also is illegal, and puts communities and freedom at grave risk.

Communities in Danger -
Your Freedom is at Risk

President Trump's Actions Mirrors Dangerous Psychological Manipulation, Intimidation, and Threats, and Endangers Communities
The public must understand the grave danger of President Trump's psychological manipulation, intimidation, and threat tactics by illegally calling in the National Guard and U.S. Marines to use excessive threats against Americans. President Trump's actions and behaviors are dangerous tactics that are clearly described in the Power and Control Wheel is a model that demonstrates the different strategies abusers (in this case, President Trump) use to dominate in personal relationships, especially in cases of domestic abuse (in this case, all Americans, citizens and visitors). While this model is centered on interpersonal dynamics, some of its principles can be linked to the recent tactics and behaviors from President Trump among his misuse of authority and displaying dangerous authoritarian traits that can be used throughout the United States.

The Danger of Authoritarian Traits

Authoritarian threats by President Trump are real and dangerous.
An authoritarian president can pose significant dangers to democratic institutions and individual freedoms. Such leaders often undermine the rule of law, suppress dissent, and concentrate power, which can lead to erosion of civil liberties and the erosion of checks and balances (Levitsky & Ziblatt, 2018). This concentration of authority may result in increased corruption, human rights abuses, and a decline in democratic norms, ultimately threatening the stability and health of the nation (Diamond, 2019). Historically, authoritarian tendencies in leadership have been associated with increased political instability and social unrest (Foa & Mounk, 2016).
