Location: UNITED STATES CAPITOL, WASHINGTON DC—On Thursday, April 11, 2025, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) addressed the Senate floor to raise concerns about former President Trump’s systematic effort to undermine the foundations of American democracy. Murphy cautioned that the ongoing assaults on journalists, academic institutions, legal professionals, and the business sector are weakening the institutions that hold leaders accountable. Any academic institution, attorney or law firm, journalists, or businesses that make any statement or protest against Trump, he takes action to quest the criticism of the government - promoting crush defense and silence through his power against anyone who dares to go against him. This trend is leading to a distorted version of democracy where elections continue to take place, but only one side prevails. Whereas, journalists, academic institutions, legal professionals and businesses are punished, fearful, and coerced is supporting one side, supporting Trump. A discussed by Senator Chris Murphy, similar to Venezuela and other countries who have experienced the slow change from a real to fake democracy, where one side always wins. Senator Murphy also discusses how it is not too late to come together, but action must be taken immediately to save our country and the future of freedom and rule of law. Comments are closed.
